Winter Training Sunday’s 10 @ 10 “Winner takes the Pot”

All paddlers welcome to attend the Elmbridge 10 @ 10.

This year to encourage more attendees racing every Sunday we are running a “winner takes the pot” . All paddlers who enter the Sunday 10k at 10 am will pay a fee of £1 ( 10k paddlers only to pay), which is put into the pot for the winner. If you are not a member of the club your 1st race will be free, so as to establish your handicap, and thereafter you will be set off on that given handicap.

So why not come down to the club for a handicap race and see if you could be the winner of the pot !!!

Hot drinks & cake for all those that partake.

Arrive at the club in good time, race starts a 10am sharp.

Elmbridge Club Relay & BBQ

Saturday saw the club hosting its annual club relay after the training session. The weather held & 4 teams of 3 K1’s & a K2 competed against each other, with a lap around the large island, relaying a number board with a designated runner. Numbers were slightly down this year with people having other commitments, but everyone still seemed to have fun. A number of boats were very keen in their approach to the landing stage, & with the water level still high managed to surf onto it. The winning team was lead by Glenn Thorogood, who seems to have won the last couple of club relay races. His paddlers were Ross McMullen & Conner Ward in K1’s,  & Rebekah Solway & Georgia Philippou in K2. Whilst the event was running the BBQ was fired up & burgers were cooked to round off the lovely afternoons entertainment. Thanks to the runners, coaches, cooks & parents in helping to organise the event & the paddlers for entertaining us all.

Ivan Lawler MCR training day Saturday 28th Jan 2012

Coach – Training days.

The MRC are promoting, in conjunction with Ivan Lawler, training days
to encourage club coaches to expand upon their experience and

knowledge and benefit by spending the day with a six times World Champion!

This is the 2nd training date aimed at Div 3 & Div 4 paddlers on Saturday 28th January 2012 and details should have already been sent to you but are available via the links below.

The day will see each coach bring two paddlers from their club.  Those
coaches and paddlers, who meet the criteria to attend the day, will
then be expected to pass on the knowledge gained at their own club and
subsequent days will then be designed to build further upon that knowledge,
again to be replicated back to the clubs.  Numbers attending will be kept
reasonably small to ensure that everyone gets maximum value from the day.
