Reading Hasler results

Reading Hasler is not part of our regional racing calendar, but in terms of distance, close enough that 8 Elmbridge paddlers decided to compete. From the results the race was well attended by other clubs & the weather conditions were hot with some head winds. Phillip Thorogood in Div 1 was 1st, Richard Ockendon in Div 2 was 5th, Kayne Wilkinson in Div 3 was 3rd, well done boys. In Div8 we had 3 of Pam’s girls, Jenny Withers, Rebekah Solway & Nicole Dawes who were 3rd, 5th & 7th, with Jenny getting promoted to Div6, well done. Finally in Div9, Georgia Philippou & Roz Evans came 4th in their K2, even with Georgia’s blistered foot.

Amy Ward selected for GB MARATHON TEAM – World Cup 1 – Copenhagen 23-24 June 2012

After a Successful weekend racing at Piestany Regatta, Amy Ward has come home to find she has been selected to represent GB for their Marathon team. Amy will be competing in the Junior women K1 section at the World Cup held in Copenhagen. Congratulations to Amy for her selection & for all her hard work.

Four of our Junior paddlers, Katherine Trotter, Marton Simon, Amy Ward & Rebeka Simon, were selected for the Piestany Regatta held this weekend. Over the weekend the results came in showing how successful they were, competing against other European paddlers at an International level.

The results were:


Marton Simon– (Jun men) K1- 500m Gold medal

K1- 1000m Bronze medal

Katherine Trotter– (U23 women) K1- 1000m Gold medal

K1-500m 6th

Rebeka Simon– (Jun Women) K1- 1000m bronze medal

Amy Ward– (Jun Women) K1- 1000m 4th

Rebeka & Amy– (Jun Women) K2- 1000m Bronze medal

&  K2- 200m 4th

Report on Gent Regatta held 18th-20th may 2012

On the 18th May Harry Archer travelled to the Gent regatta in Belgium to compete as part of the BCU development  team, of 45 paddlers, representing and paddling in their own club colours.
This competition was open to all Girls/Boys A and B paddlers and, apart from a nominal contribution made by the paddler, was fully funded by the BCU.
Harry made 7th in the final of the Junior mens K1 1000m having won his heat and coming 2nd in the semi final. He also competed in the K2 at 1000m and 200m with Nick Romain of Richmond canoe club.
This regatta gives paddlers a good first international experience and a great weekend was had by all. 45 paddlers attended this event from all over the UK.
This weekend Rebi and Marton Simon, Katherine Trotter and Amy Ward have all been selected, from Elmbridge canoe club, to compete as part of the British team in Piestany. Good luck to them.
